Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into furniture design?
We are a two-person design office and we have been working together for five years. Our starting point was the Innolux Multi luminaire range, which received a lot of attention. However, our collaboration started already in courses at Aalto University. Our backgrounds are in industrial design and spatial design, but product and lighting design in particular has been a key area for us.
How would you describe your design style or design philosophy?
Our design is based on timelessness, versatility and Nordic clarity. Modularity and classicism are important to us, but empathy with the end user also guides our work. Materials and the atmosphere they convey are of great importance. We want to make life more beautiful and everyday life more functional.
Where do you draw inspiration for your work?
Inspiration comes from new materials and everyday situations where we see the potential for a better solution through design. The designer's eye and touch are present in everything we do.

How did the INTO cooperation get started?
We met INTO's Jari and Hanna at the Stockholm Fair last February. The conversations left a good impression and the seed of cooperation remained alive until it later became concrete. Our personalities met. Hanna had liked our Multi luminaire and we, for our part, appreciated the timeless and clean design of INTO's PODs.
What made you interested in INTO as a partner?
INTO has an open and enthusiastic way of working together. We immediately saw that there was a place in their product family for a solution that would bring protection and comfort to working environments.
How would you describe the design process for a new product with the INTO team?
The process started with a background research, where we got to know the client's perspective and the market. Collaboration was based on a discussion, from which we progressed from sketches to 3D models and finally to a prototype. The process moved step by step towards the finished product. We also took logistics and transportability into account during the design process.

Could you tell us a little bit about the product you designed for INTO?
We designed a modular pergola solution for open spaces and work environments called HUT. It allows you to increase privacy and protection, while still keeping the space open and bright. The wall panels add visual privacy and the modular design makes it easily replicable and adaptable to different environments. The product helps, for example, to enclose large and difficult-to-manage spaces without the need for fixed partitions.

What problem or need does the product solve in the working environment and how has the end user been taken into account in the design process?
The product brings peace and privacy to working environments, improving concentration and well-being. It is particularly suitable for lobbies and high spaces where protection from above is also required. The end result creates a nest-like and majestic atmosphere that supports a sense of security. The end user's perspective was involved throughout the design process.

How are sustainability and the circular economy reflected in product design?
Sustainability and the circular economy were the starting points for the design. Materials are sourced locally, the whole is easily repairable and recyclable. The parts are simple and there is minimal waste in the manufacturing process. We strive for a design that will stand the test of time. This ensures a long product life cycle.
