INTO the Nordic Silence -POD rooms create silence in FIM's new multi-room office
FIM, a Finnish private bank offering wealth management services, moved to new premises in Mikonkatu in the heart of Helsinki in 2019. In addition to prestigious customer facilities, the new office was designed to provide well-functioning working space, which was implemented as a multi-space office. The multifunctional spaces in the old building suited this wish well.
POD rooms were added to the new multi-space office to increase working comfort and provide space for work that requires privacy and concentration. POD PHONE phone booths provide excellent acoustic protection from distracting sounds and allow private calls to be made without disturbing those around you. The telephone booths have only one wall of glass, providing a protective privacy for the user. In addition to the phone booths, a POD 2 soundproof working and meeting room was added to the office space, ideal for video conferencing, for example. This space is also the perfect size for one-to-one meetings.
The minimalist and understated dark grey exterior of the POD rooms, which also feature dark grey acoustic textile carpets on the interior surfaces, blend perfectly with the architecture of the building and the dark, rich colour scheme of the office, typical of the period. The POD rooms were designed to be located close to the work areas and corridors, making them easy to drop in and out of. The placement of the POD rooms was successful in creating visual barriers in the corridor areas, thus reducing visual distractions in the multi-purpose office and increasing concentration.
