We choose wood over steel
INTO Concept uses only PEFC and FSC certified wood in its products, including its quiet workspaces. Material choices matter and reflect our values. Why we choose wood over steel:
- Renewable and responsibly sourced material: The wood we use is always PEFC or FSC certified, ensuring sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation. Unlike steel, wood is a renewable resource that supports the circular economy and responsible use of resources.
- A smaller carbon footprint: Wood processing requires significantly less energy than steel production. In addition, wood acts as a carbon sink: it absorbs carbon dioxide as it grows, helping to combat climate change.
- Recyclable and biodegradable alternative: Wood products can be reused, recycled or composted at the end of their life cycle. Steel is also recyclable, but its processing consumes significantly more energy.
- Light but durable: Wood combines structural strength and lightness, making it easy to transport, handle and install. This reduces both logistical emissions and site costs.
- An indoor environment that promotes well-being: Wood improves acoustics, absorbs noise and adds natural warmth to the interior. It makes working environments more pleasant and people-friendly.
